Math Help and Learning Resources:
http://www.onlinemathlearning.com/index.html

This is by far one of the best sites that I have stumbled across. Not only is it neatly organized where you can find what you are looking for, and quickly, but it is just filled with exuberant amounts of information.  For the lower grades it even includes reading information, which I find, interesting considering the site is math related but for the upper grades it even includes chemistry, physics, and biology. The site includes video for each lesson (which would come in handy if and when you have to have a substitute teacher). But also many students sometimes learn better from a video than from a lecture, so it incorporates the use of media. This website also includes games and worksheets for each area. I also love the fact that it is organized by grade level, pre-k through ACT and college calculus. This is a site that the parents and students can use and refer back to as they continue out their education. Overall I rate this site as an A+ !

The Math Forum @ Drexel
http://mathforum.org/

This is another math tutoring site. Although I do not feel it is as organized as the onlinemathlearning.com site; I do think it has a lot to offer. If you search under the tabs located at the top you will find the site does have a lot of information at hand. I feel as if it is less organized and slightly harder to navigate than the previous site. However, sometimes parents and students need multiple sites to help them or reassure their knowledge so this is not something I am going to forget about it will just not be my first option to share with families. The most helpful piece is if you click on “Math Help” then click on “ Internet Math Library” where you can find a topic index. However, once at the topic index it seems over whelming. What if you don’t know what you are learning about you just know what grade level? I rate this site, as a C+ for it is informative but not as incredible as the onlinemathlearning.com site.

Math Words
http://www.mathwords.com/a_to_z.htm

Math words is a simple but very important site for students, families, and even educators and substitutes.  This is simply a compiled apathetical list of mathematical terms. From a-z it includes well over 1,000 math related words and their definitions. I also really enjoy this site because it not only includes clear and concise definitions but it also includes diagrams and links to other words if used together. I also like the simplicity of the site. You can search words alphabetically or you can also search by topic such as algebra or calculus. Although this site does not offer videos or worksheets it is important for students and adults alike to understand the terminology behind math. By simply not understanding what a word means could mean getting the entire problem wrong. Also, in my content literacy class we are talking about to incorporate reading into our content on a regular basis. A big part of math is reading the instructions and understanding word problems. Who knows I could have vocabulary words and definitions as part of the test to incorporate literacy into my mathematical world. I personally use this website to help create my lesson plans! I rate this site as a A- for it is exactly what we need.

Purple Math
www.purplemath.com

This is another great information hub. Once on the home page if you click on lesson index in the upper right hand corner you’ll be able to see all of the different lessons this site has to offer. Although it does not include videos like the first website I discussed it does incorporate step by step instructions and even a ‘do it yourself’ area.  This is great for the level in which I will be teaching at it. I always recommend it to my peers when they want to refresh or study for a major exam. I even used it to remind myself of certain topics right before I took the Praxis! I think between this site and onlinemathlearning.com along with some practice and motivation a student could learn almost any mathematical concept. I rate this site an A- for it is filled with great information and is neatly organized.
